The story behind the livery
Thai Airways — the domestic carrier operating alongside Thai Airways International — relied on the Hawker Siddeley HS-748 to connect Bangkok with provincial cities and towns across Thailand throughout the late 1960s and 1970s. The turboprop's short-field performance made it indispensable on routes serving smaller regional airports, opening up air travel to communities that larger jets could not reach. The 1970 livery captures Thai Airways in its earliest colour scheme — a distinctly Southeast Asian design that predates the airline's later mergers and rebranding, and one that has never been widely reproduced for scale modelers outside Thailand.
