The story behind the livery
By 1988, DLT had updated its visual identity to reflect the changing aesthetic of late 1980s European regional aviation — a more polished, modern look that signalled the airline's growing ambitions as Lufthansa's premier feeder partner. The Hawker Siddeley HS-748 continued to operate on DLT's thinner regional routes across West Germany and into neighbouring countries, flying the updated livery on some of the last turboprop services the airline would ever operate before transitioning to a jet-only fleet. With DLT's absorption into Lufthansa CityLine just four years later in 1992, the 1988 scheme represents one of the final chapters of an important and fondly remembered German regional brand.
