The story behind the livery
Air Vietnam was the national carrier of South Vietnam, operating throughout one of the most dramatic periods in Southeast Asian history. In 1967, at the height of the Vietnam War, the airline continued flying domestic routes connecting Saigon, Hue, Da Nang, and other cities — keeping civilian air travel alive in a country torn by conflict. The Douglas DC-3, a veteran of World War II, remained a reliable workhorse on these routes long after more modern aircraft had replaced it elsewhere. Air Vietnam ceased operations in 1975 with the fall of Saigon, making any record of its liveries a significant piece of aviation history.
