The story behind the livery
Bouraq Indonesia Airlines was founded in 1970 and operated as one of Indonesia's pioneering regional carriers, connecting remote islands and communities across the vast Indonesian archipelago. By 1980, when this livery was worn, Bouraq was still flying the legendary Douglas DC-3 — one of the last airlines in the world to do so commercially — on routes where no other aircraft could operate economically. Flying into small airstrips on Borneo, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan, Bouraq's DC-3s were a lifeline for communities that had no other connection to the outside world. The airline ceased operations in 2005, and its liveries are virtually impossible to find in decal form today.
This decal set faithfully reproduces the complete 1980 Bouraq Indonesia livery: fuselage titles, airline markings, registration numbers, and full window lines — all researched from historical photographic references.
