The story behind the livery
Air Vietnam was the national carrier of South Vietnam, and by 1972 was operating Boeing 727-100s on both domestic and international routes — even as the Vietnam War raged across the country. Flying commercial jets in one of the world's most active conflict zones, Air Vietnam's crews showed extraordinary resilience, maintaining scheduled services connecting Saigon with destinations across Southeast Asia. The 1972 livery represents the airline at the height of this remarkable period, just three years before the fall of Saigon would bring Air Vietnam's operations to an abrupt end in 1975. This livery is virtually impossible to find reproduced elsewhere.
This decal set faithfully reproduces the complete 1972 Air Vietnam livery: fuselage titles in both English and Vietnamese, airline markings, registration numbers, and full window lines — all researched from historical photographic references.
