The story behind the livery
When Lufthansa resumed operations in 1955 after the devastation of World War II, the Douglas DC-3 was among the first aircraft to carry the reborn German flag carrier's livery. By 1956, Lufthansa was quietly rebuilding its domestic network, flying the reliable DC-3 on routes within West Germany as the airline prepared for its ambitious expansion into the jet age.
