The story behind the livery

USAir was born in 1979 when Allegheny Airlines rebranded to reflect its growing ambitions beyond the northeastern United States. The new name and livery signaled a bold new chapter — one driven by the sweeping changes of airline deregulation, which had just opened American skies to fierce competition. Flying the Boeing 727-100 on an expanding network of routes, USAir grew rapidly throughout the 1980s, eventually becoming one of America's largest carriers before merging with America West and ultimately becoming American Airlines. This 1980 livery captures USAir in its very first year, making it a historically significant and rarely reproduced collector's piece. It pairs perfectly with the Allegheny 1979 decal to tell the complete story of this airline's transformation.

This decal set faithfully reproduces the complete 1980 USAir livery: fuselage titles, airline markings, registration numbers, and full window lines — all researched from historical photographic references.
