The story behind the livery
Bangkok Airways was founded in 1968 and grew through the 1980s and 1990s into one of Thailand's most distinctive private carriers, connecting Bangkok with regional destinations including Koh Samui — an airport it owns and operates to this day. The Shorts 330 was an ideal aircraft for Bangkok Airways' short regional hops, its twin-turboprop reliability and compact size perfectly suited to the smaller airstrips of the Thai and Cambodian tourist circuit. The 1993 livery captures the airline during a pivotal growth phase, shortly before it expanded its fleet with larger ATR and Airbus types.
Bangkok Airways' Shorts 330 is a rare and unusual subject — seldom modelled and almost never offered in decal form — making this one of the more distinctive additions to any Southeast Asian airline collection.
