Who's behind Memodec?

My fascination with aircraft modeling started when I was just 8 years old. During a rainy summer holiday, my father bought me an aircraft model kit from Airfix. It was the Fokker Triplane from Richthofen, and all the plastic parts were red. It wasn't too complicated to assemble all the parts. The model was completed, the tube of glue was empty, and I was happy. From that experience, I became addicted to aircraft modeling.

As I grew older, my interest shifted to civil aviation, namely airliner modeling. The reason might have been that my father traveled a lot, and we often took him to the airport. All those aircraft impressed me. At that time, it was quite easy to get close to the Convairs, Viscounts, Fokkers, just to name a few.

During my later employment, I was privileged to travel around the world to all

continents. My employment in Southeast Asia for 10 years intensified my travel. During that period, it was a pleasure to see the development of civil aviation in that part of the world. Even during that time, airliner modeling was always possible.

When all those pioneers of decal production emerged, like MicroScale, Runway 30, and FCM Decals, I started to buy their nice products and add them to my model aircraft collection. I bought more model kits than I could complete, so my collection grew and grew.

After my retirement, it came to my mind to create my own decals for all those stash kits. With a huge collection of material useful for creating decals, I started from scratch. In other words, I had no idea how to design decals. However, with learning by doing and encouragement from good friends, I came to terms with it.

Laser printing was not an option since the quality is limited and white is not possible to print. For silk printing, the investment is quite high for each decal, since you have to pay for the minimum quantity. I came across a digital printing solution that satisfied my demand for quality, so I invested in a digital printer.

What kind of decals do I produce? The answer is simple: all those I like, or those I had the pleasure of being on board a certain aircraft of a certain airline.

And then another idea was born. Why not share these decals with others? The shop was created, and it grows step by step. Today, we are a small group of enthusiasts who all share their knowledge with the project.
