By 1981, Ethiopian Airlines was still flying the Douglas DC-3 on domestic routes connecting remote highland communities and regional towns that were inaccessible to larger jet aircraft. In a country with few roads and vast distances, the DC-3 was not a relic — it was an essential lifeline. This late-era livery, worn decades after most airlines had retired the type, is a remarkable piece of African aviation history that is almost never reproduced in decal form.

This decal set faithfully reproduces the complete 1981 Ethiopian Airlines livery: fuselage titles, airline markings, registration numbers, and full window lines — all researched from historical photographic references.

What's included:

Full livery decals for the Douglas DC-3 C-47 (Ethiopian Airlines 1981)

Fuselage titles, Ethiopian Airlines markings, and registration numbers

Available in scales: 1/144, 1/200, 1/100, 1/72, and 1/48

Decal quality: Printed using high-resolution digital printing technology, delivering sharp edges, accurate colors, and excellent durability. By 1998, the airline was establishing itself as one of Germany's emerging low-cost carriers, flying the Airbus A319-100 on routes that were opening up affordable air travel across Europe. This early Eurowings livery — worn long before the airline's transformation into the major budget carrier it is today — is a snapshot of a pivotal moment in European aviation deregulation.
